So it's 7 days past the free agent frenzy and Montreal has been turned upside down. CJAD wouldn't stop talking about the prospect of getting Vincent Lecavalier into town before his no-trade kicks in, and there where more then enough rumors to throw around and feed the hockey-fueled city. We had rumors of Hossa and Gaborik and everything in between Canada and Russia.

The NHL is trying to crackdown on unnecessary blows to the head.
The NHL's Senior Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations, Colin Campbell, had the following memo, obtained by TSN, posted in every NHL dressing room on Friday.
"Recently, we have had two (2) supplemental discipline incidents involving direct elbow blows to the head. This is a play that we have been trying to remove from our game for a number of years. In one case there was no injury and in the other incident the elbowed Player received a concus

General managers will have one extra day to make NHL trades. The league said yesterday it has pushed the trade deadline back to March 4. A high volume of games forced the switch. There are 12 games on the schedule March 3 and only two March 4. The league and NHL Players' Association agreed on the change.

Ok, where to start. Let\'s go with the opening ceremony, which quite frankly almost caused this Habs fan to break down. They honored the greats, and that ring of Honor is amazing. The entire ceremony lasted a half hour, significantly shorter to what I thought it would be based off last eyars ceremony with Ken Dryden which lasted some 1.5 hours.
