A change has been made to the method in which you can watch our games on a mac.

Follow these instructions if you are using a MAC to watch our streams.

    http://wings.buffalo.edu/computing/Documentation/mac/flip4mac.html said:

If you are using snow leopard download the Flip4Mac BETA

Otherwise continue on with the instructions below.

    DOWNLOADING FLIP4MAC

    1. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.

    2. If you haven't already installed QuickTime on your computer, please click on the following link for directions:
    http://wings.buffalo.edu/computing/ Documentation/mac/quicktime.html

    3. If you are not directed to the Windows Media Components for QuickTime Site, please click on the following URL:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
    FamilyID=915d874d-d747-4180-a400-5f06b1b5e559&DisplayLang=en

    4. Click Download.

    5. Click Save File.

    6. Press Command (Apple) j to view the Firefox Downloads window. Wait for the Download to complete, then click Open next to the download entry for Flip4Mac to begin the installation process.

    INSTALLING FLIP4MAC
    1. The packaged installation file for Flip4Mac will mount to temporary file space in the Finder. This file space should open automatically. Drag the file named Flip4Mac WMV.mpkg from the mount to your Desktop. You may now click the eject symbol to the right of the mount space to free the temporary resources the installer was using.

    2. Double-click on the file named Flip4Mac WMV.pkg on your desktop to begin the setup program.

    3. When the Installer window appears, click Continue.

    4. Read the Important Information on the following screen and click Continue.

    5. Read the Software License Agreement, and click Continue. When this window pops up again, click Agree.

    6. Click Continue on the Select a Destination screen.

    7. On the next screen, click Install.

    8. If your computer asks you for authentication, enter your username and password.

    9. Please wait while the installer processes the necessary files.

    10. In the folder labeled Flip4Mac on your desktop, double-click WMV Player.

    11. QuickTime will open and you can now play Windows Media files through QuickTime.

    Watch in Full Screen said:
Once you complete the installation instructions above you may be interested in full-screen playback.

    1) Enter the Flip4Mac WMV Plug-in settings in the System Preferences (or by right clicking on an already playing Hockeystream).

    2) On the Browser tab check Launch QuickTime Player and close the preferences.

    3) Restart your browser.

    4) Navigate to a hockeystream broadcast, it should run QuickTime player instead of playing in the browser.

    5) Choose either View -> Enter Full Screen or hit Command + F

    6) Enjoy!

If the full-screen option is unavailable please upgrade to the latest version of quicktime at www.apple.com/quicktime . I believe since version 7 Full-Screen is no longer a Pro-only feature.

Please note these instructions are courtesy of

so we'd like to thank them.

    Thank you!

It's pretty easy to just create yourself an exception and use vlc or mplayer. This is how I'm currently using it on my MythTV box.

(As a sidenote, the ability to use hockeystreams with the mythstream plugin would be outstanding...)

It works fine in Linux, just install VLC, then go to Open Network. Paste the link next to the game in the page and select MMS as stream type.

    buffering issues
Does anyone have issues buffering on the mac? I have no problems watching the HD feeds from the archives with my PC, but when using any browser or Flip4Mac/Quicktime on the mac, I can't watch anything greater than the smallest feed.

Samething with the live feeds: The PC can handle the HQ feeds, but the mac stops playback to buffer constantly.

My speedtest.net test showed a 3+ Mbps downlink rate.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Are you connecting the mac via wifi?

Sometimes WiFi plays tricks with proxies - is there any way you could try to hard wire the mac and see if that fixes it?

Standing in my basement now Connecting it directly to the DSL modem it is a little better, but still re-buffers too frequently (not watchable) on the HD feeds. The current Live feed of Pens/Leafs paused a few times. So it's slightly better...

Any other thoughts, like my WiFi settings? I've got the whole network locked down pretty secure, but it's not a problem for any other streaming video (like network TV directly from their websites - I know: it uses Flash, and this is different, being Win. media)
