I registered today to find out that the HDplus stream is really lagging. Speedtest gave me ~3.25Mbps.

I personally get a smooth HDplus stream. Are you connecting via WiFi by any chance?

Does it stop to buffer - or does it simply chop up?

I've found that WiFi will not give you the full bandwidth potential. If possible, Try to wire it directly and see if that improves your performance. If that's not an option, try raising the buffer for windows media player by right clicking the media player while watching and pressing options.

Raise the buffer to 60 seconds if you're watching an archive.

I will try to wire tomorrow and let you know if it improves.

A bit off topic, but, i noticed that the aspect ratio is off (the image is scretched horizontaly). Will this be fixed sometimes or it has to be that way?

    Thanks.

For HD plus, the feed will be 16:9 widescreen. HD we stretch it to make it widescreen. You can change the aspect ratio back using VLC

    Thanks

    Hi Billy,

I understand that the aspect ratio is 16:9 for HD feed (compared to 4:3 for standard). But i was not talking about that ratio. I noticed that the image is stretched horizontaly, meaning the people in the image looks shorter and fatter. It's a bit hard to explain in text.. But anyways, to correct the image stretch, I have to resize with VLC back to 4:3 ratio so the people in the video will look normal.

This is weird because it's like, you take a video at 4:3 and stretch it to make it 16:9 then i squeeze it back to make it 4:3.

Maybe you can just add black bars on the side instead of stretching the image? Or, increase the vertical resolution?

We do that as we find the majority of people utilize wide screen monitors. Although the image does look stretched it provides better quality by stretching the pixels to 16:9. We could do it the other way around and show it at 640x480 which is 4:3 and people that would like to wide screen it can use VLC to change the aspect ratio but the problem is not many people know how to.

OK, i see why you're doing it that way, to make it simpler for people. But i hope that in the future, we could have real 16:9 feed. Or that people learn how to stretch the image themself

EDIT: I noticed something, you have black bars on the top and bottom of the video image, if you stretch the image VERTICALY to remove the black bars, you would have a perfect 16:9 image unstretched! I don't see why this is not done as it solve the issue.

Are you talking about the HDplus or HD feed?
